How to Apply for Council-Administered Funding
This page details the process for applying for funding under any of the schemes administred by Tasman District Council.
Before You Apply
- Set realistic project costs.
- Be able to show that you have an identified need and have planned carefully.
- Provide letters of support or other proof of wider community support.
- Consult with relevant staff.
All grants, scholarships and awards are advertised well before close off date for applications and nominationson on this website, in Community Papers and in the fortnightly Newsline-the Mag.
Submitting Your Application
Application and nomination forms plus information brochures are available to download or apply online from this website.
Completed application forms to be either submitted online, posted along with any supporting doucmentation to:
Tasman District Council, Private Bag 4, 189 Queen Street, Richmond 7050, New ZealandOr applications can also be handed in at any Council office, up to and including, closing dates of respective schemes.
Late applications will not be accepted.
Successful Applicants and Nominations
Successful applications will be advised by letter of their grant. Non-successful applicants will also be notified. The list of grant recipients will also be announced in the Council publications.
Successful nominations for the various awards and scholarships will also be notified by letter and the award presented at an appropriate Council-sponsored ceremony.
Accountability Forms
Successful applicants are required to complete and return an accountability form within 12 months of receiving funding, detailing the use of the grant. These forms will be included with the successful applicant's letter. Failure to return these forms may result in ineligibility for future funding.
A small percentage of applicants may be audited.
Why Your Application May be Turned Down
Applications may be turned down because:
- The project does not meet the criteria;
- The project is not considered a priority;
- It is deemed that there is an alternative source of funding available that is more appropriate;
- The group or project needs more planning;
- Demand for funding exceeds supply;
- They are retrospective i.e. the project has already started at closing date.
Publicly Acknowledging Your Grant
It is a requirement of all community groups receiving grants that the receipt of the grant be acknowledged publicly by at least one of the following methods:
- Acknowledgement in the annual accounts and report;
- Acknowledgement on publicity material;
- Acknowledgement on plaques or signage.
Note
Committee decisions are final and no correspondence can be entered into.
